Best known as the voice of 17 Super Bowls, he is currently the PA announcer for the Minnesota Vikings and the Colorado Avalanche, where he has been for 25 seasons, earning two Stanley Cup rings. Roach’s career highlights include announcing the inaugural game of the Colorado Rockies, NHL All-Star games, Winter Olympics, and MLB's Field of Dreams games.

He is also the voice of the Colorado Rapids and has announced numerous USA Men’s and Women’s National Team games, the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, and the FIFA World Cup in Moscow.

When not behind the mic, Roach enjoys time with his wife, two dogs, and two grown children. Originally from Minnesota, he has called Colorado home since 1990.

And in February 2025, Roach was introduced as the 9th announcer for BallparkDJ.

It might take less time to list the world’s biggest sporting events that Alan Roach has NOT announced than it would take to chronicle all of the big events that Roach has been at the mic for in his remarkable career.  Every sports fan in almost every corner of the globe sometime in the last 4 decades has likely heard the unmistakable baritone of Alan Roach announcing a favorite team or athlete, a most-hated rival, or some memorable sports moment.

Since announcing his first game for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox minor league baseball team in 1990, Alan Roach has circled the globe with microphone in hand.  From Mexico to Finland, Brazil to Canada, Russia to Italy, and plenty of stops in between.  Roach may be best known as the voice of the NFL’s special events including 17 Super Bowls, most recently Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The NFL’s Minnesota Vikings call Roach their own as he announces every home game in U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota since 2016.  But the Colorado Avalanche also have a claim.  Roach is in his 25th season as PA Announcer with the Colorado Avalanche.  He has 2 Stanley Cup Championship rings with the club from 2001 and 2022.  His hockey announcing resume also includes multiple NHL All-star games, dozens of tournaments and Gold Medal hockey games for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Torino, Vancouver, Sochi, and Pyeong Chang.

Following his start in baseball’s minor leagues, it didn’t take long for Roach to get his call to the bigs.  In 1993 Roach announced the inaugural game of MLB’s Colorado Rockies at Denver’s Mile High Stadium in April that year.  By the year 2000, Roach could also be heard at the Avalanche and the Denver Broncos stadiums.  While still currently working at Avalanche games, Roach resigned from his positions at the Rockies and Broncos after 14 and 16 seasons respectively.  His association with Major League Baseball did not end, however.  Roach was part of both iconic games recently played at Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa and Roach can boast he is the only announcer ever for MLB games in London and South Korea.

But what about soccer?  Roach can be heard every MLS season as announcer for the Colorado Rapids in Denver.  He has announced numerous USA Men’s and Women’s National Team games and the last two Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Championship games for US Soccer.  In 2017/2018 Roach was at the mic for the Confederations Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia and the FIFA World Cup in Moscow.  He called the 2018 WC opening game and the Championship game at historic Luzhniki Stadium.

As if Alan Roach has a bingo card of sporting events and is trying to cover every square, he has included Olympic Boxing at the 2018 Summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Every February, Roach can be heard at the NCAA preseason Puerto Vallarta College Challenge softball tournament in Mexico.  Roach was heard at the international rugby tournament Churchill Cup in 2009 and 2010.

When not announcing a sporting event, which seems not very often, Roach enjoys time with his beautiful wife and 2 dogs.  Roach also has 2 grown children.  Born and raised in Minnesota, Roach moved to and continues to make his home in Colorado since 1990.
