Bluetooth Disconnecting?

If you are experiencing an issue during a game where the Bluetooth connection between your device and your speaker is periodically and randomly getting disconnected….read on!

  • Turn Off Bluetooth - If another family member is at the game and that family member also has previously connected to the Bluetooth speaker you are using, it’s possible the two of you could be fighting for the connection. Have the other family member turn Bluetooth off on their phone if possible for the duration of the game.

  • Lock Bluetooth Connection - Some speakers come with an option to lock the Bluetooth connect to the device it’s currently connected to….preventing any possible unwanted stealing of the connection. For instance, on the JBL Charge 5, this feature is activated by holding down the Bluetooth button and the Volume Up + button simultaneously for 5 seconds. Consult your speakers documentation (or Google) to determine if your speaker has a lock feature.

  • Reset Bluetooth Settings - Some speakers also come with an option to reset the settings on the Bluetooth speaker. After reset, any device that had previously connected to this speaker would have to make a fresh connection. Again, this process is unique from speaker to speaker so consult the speakers documentation (or Google). For the JBL Charge 5 mentioned above, a reset is accomplished by simultaneously holding down the Volume Up + button with the Play/Pause button for 5 seconds.

  • Stay In Range - Staying close to your speaker might also help. The range of most Bluetooth speakers ranges from 30 to 100 feet, so try to stay within 30 feet of the speaker.

  • Wire a Connection - If all else fails, a wired aux connection to your speaker is always a reliable solution to such an issue, if your speaker provides that option.
